On June 23, 2017, WIPO announced a review of the Nice Classification. The changes are said to have been adopted by the Committee of Experts of the Nice Union at its 27 th Session held in Geneva from May 1 to 5, 2017. Since its inception in 1957 following the Nice Agreements, the Nice Classification has continuously been reviewed by the Committee of Experts. Currently, the Nice 11-2017 is in use. The Classification, which is used by all countries parties to the Madrid System as well as some other countries like Nigeria, who are not parties to the System, contains 45 classes under which marks are registered. Classes 1 to 34 relate to goods while 25 to 34 relate to services.
